From imaginative architecture, building design and urban design up to inventive interior design and product design, design is everywhere, design uses any kind of materials, new and old. And this is show at this 23.2 House designed by Omer Arbel.
The designer Omer Arbel created this good looking family house on a large rural acreage just outside Vancouver in West Coast, Canada. Omer Arbel begin his work at this house by using Douglas Fir beams which was reclaimed form a series of burned down ware houses. It’s a challenge as the beams themselves vary in lengths and dimensions. So what he did was commiting to a geometry of the beams to be able to accommodate the tremendous dimension that come in different varieties.
The reclaimed beams in triangular frames then being folded in order to create roof which then act as secondary landscape where it is drapping the artificial landscape over the gentle slope. To work out the ambiguity on interior and exterior, Omer started using bent steel columns where he removed one corner of each room by pulling the structure back from the corner.
