Acapulco Travel Vacations and Destinations

Acapulco is a major seaport in Mexico and is one of the most popular tourist destinations of this country. As far as being a tourist spot goes, Acapulco has it all. Great beaches, vibrant cultures, exciting cuisines and more. The main highlights of an Acapulco vacation is the area's nightlife. The city has a reputation of throwing high-energy parties that go on until dawn. Acapulco's glitzy and glamorous parties have been legendary for decades and have drawn many international as well as local visitors over the years.

There are also other activities that can make your Acapulco travel a very memorable one. Here are some of them.

Cliff Divers
La Quebrada cliff divers have become one of Acapulco's most iconic attractions. Traditionally, young men dive off La Quebrada's perilous cliffs every 1:00 PM. It's a thrilling thing to watch and involves a lot of skill. Divers need to time their jump properly in order for the incoming waves to cushion their fall. These perfectly executed dives started as a local tradition back in the 1930's where young men casually held contests among themselves on who can jump off from the highest points of the cliff. Divers these days jump off a height of 40 meters into an inlet that is seven meters wide and only four meters deep.

Beautiful Beaches

Luxury vacations to Acapulco are not complete without experiencing its beautiful beaches. This arc-shaped sea port city is a popular destination for couples out on luxury vacations, students out on spring break, and tourists looking for a relaxing time away from the city. One of the major beaches in Acapulco is the Icacos beach where you can go parasailing, yachting, cruising and more. You can even go on a hot air balloon ride if you want. There's also the Pie de la Cuesta which is also called the "Sunset Beach" because it's the place to be if you want to enjoy a spectacular view of the Acapulco sunset. There are also beaches like Playa La Angosta which can be easily reached by public buses. It's near tha La Quebrada cliffs and is also a place where some fishermen sell the freshest catch of the day.

Whether you want calmer waters of the bay area or more wave activity near the ocean, Acapulco's beautiful beaches can make your vacation something beautiful to remember.

Nightlife
People who enjoy the nightlife are in for a treat in Acapulco. Take a walk down their main strip of the Las Brisas on Fridays and weekends or on every night during spring break and you can hear music and lights pouring out into the streets from all the bars, night clubs and lounges of the city. There's the grandiose Palladium, the Classico del Mar, Mangos, and many more. Enjoy good food and music, staff that are friendly to tourists, and beautiful views of the city at night.

Other Attractions

If you're on an Acapulco vacation with the family, you'll probably enjoy their water parks, Cici and El Castillo de Los Moyis. Children will love playing in the pool or swimming with the dolphins. Waterparks also have good restaurants where you can enjoy local cuisines.

Many of Mexico's finest chefs can be found working in Acapulco because of the vibrant tourism industry of the city. Museums and Parks

To get a feel of Acapulco's local history, you can also visit the city's History Museum in Fuerta de San Diego (San Diego Fort). The fort was built in 1616 century as a defense against the pirates. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the years until it was rebuilt again in 1783. It contains artifacts and other exhibits about the history of this port city from pre-Hispanic period until its independence.
